Glaucoma affects more than 2.7 million Americans aged 40 and older. Learn if you are at risk for this “sneak thief of sight”
Some people have a higher than normal risk of getting glaucoma. This includes people who:
- are over age 40
- have family members with glaucoma
- are of African or Hispanic heritage
- have high eye pressure
- are farsighted or nearsighted
- have had an eye injury
- have corneas that are thin in the center
- have thinning of the optic nerve
- have diabetes, migraines, poor blood circulation or other health problems affecting the whole body

We would like to invite you to join us at the Allen R. Baca Center in Round Rock on Friday September 1st from 9:00am – 11:30am.
Clarity Eye Center will be handing out educational health packets for all who attend. There will be over 30 vendors with other important health information, giveaways, flu shots and more.
The event will take place in the Grand Room and there is minimal wait time to get your flu shot. Flu shots are FREE for those with Medicare Part B and $25 for all others .

“LASIK is an FDA-approved procedure… if there were long-term issues with the procedure, the FDA would pull the procedure off the market, right? And that is absolutely not the case,” Dr. Marc Werner, an ophthalmologist at the Stahl Eye Center in New York City, told FoxNews.com. “We still have lots of people we started on 18 to 19 years ago who are perfect. Safety Tips for Holiday Toy Purchases
This time of year it’s important to remember safety tips when shopping for presents for the little ones. The good news is that most eye injuries can be easily prevented by following Eye Smart’s toy safety tips.
1. Make sure children have appropriate supervision when playing with potentially hazardous toys or games that could cause an eye injury
2. Avoid purchasing toys with sharp, protruding or projectile parts.
3. Keep toys that are made for older children away from younger children
